User Interface Changes
  • Vista UAC Issues Resolved - You should not be prompted by UAC on Admin or Limited user account under Vista. You cannot install program updates on a Limited Account as this breaks the Admin/Limited use paradigm.
  • Windows "No Disk" issues resolved - this a Windows error due to it's caching of disk volumes - this no longer should show up for empty CD/DVD driver, flash drives, etc.

  • Last definition update time/date is displayed on the main screen
  • First Chance Prevention now allows individual settings for startup/shutdown/services scanning (Professional Version Only)
  • First Chance Prevention will now notify you when items are/were detected and removed on startup/shutdown
  • Resolved 12/24 hour time issue with scheduled scanning - it should now default to the time display set in the Control Panel
  • Note that First Chance Prevention is not available on Windows Vista currently and will be available shortly.

01/16/2007 3.5.1016 Technology Changes
  • Windows Vista preliminary support. SUPERAntiSpyware has all access rights on any account in Vista for scanning and removal.
  • Enhanced detection and removal of in-memory threats
  • Enhanced detection and removal of large file items (even if the 4MB limit is active). This enhancement is designed to block many of the larger installer packages.
  • Improved kernel direct scanning. This allows us to see more items even if they try and hide with kernel drivers.
  • Improved ADS (Alternate Data Stream) detection and removal
Interface and Functionality Changes
  • Resolved issue where certain files could cause the scan to end prematurely
  • Limited user account support. Guest account support. All functions work as they do under the Administrator user. Product only needs to be registered on a single account now.
  • All quarantines and logs are now stored PER USER. SUPERAntiSpyware will auto-migrate existing installations
  • Definition version numbers are now stored in the files so the version number will automatically update when you manually update and copy definitions
  • Right-click scan file and folder capability. You can turn this off under the scanning options. The default is ON
  • Sound setting was still not saved on reboot. This has been resolved.

10/19/2006 3.3.1020 Technology Changes
  • Scan time is now 30% - 40% FASTER in all scanning modes
  • Rootkit detection and removal ability has been drastically increased
  • Reboot not required if only cookies are detected during the scan
  • Real-Time (Professional Only) and In-Memory Scans allow unlimited size to cache large installers and items that unpack to large memory images
  • Resolved issue in SASSEH.DLL where the COMODO Firewall would send inordinately long strings and crash most Shell Execute Hooks
  • Detected items verified to make sure they are not part of the core/original Windows installation - this ensures that no system/core components can be removed should a false-positve happen, or a malware application tries to rename/spoof items inorder to "trick" the scanner into removing a critical component (we have observed this). This feature works on Windows 2000 and above only. i.e. not on Win98/ME
  • Shortcuts now use standard shortcuts instead of Windows Intaller self-healing shortcuts to allow running when the Windows Installer Service (safe-mode) is not running – repair shortcut added to programs menu to repair the installation should it become corrupt – this applies to new installations only
  • Additional Safe Mode scanning enhancements

06/20/2006 3.2.1026 Interface and Functionality Changes

  • Right-click menu allows enabling and disabling of real-time protection
  • Program version displayed on main screen
  • Link to access File Research Center (What's Running on Your Computer) Added to Main Screen
  • Access to scanning control/preferences added in the scanning configuration screen. This allows preferences to be altered without going all the way back to the main screen.
  • Custom scan now allows cookie scanning to be turned on and off
  • Definition downloading/updating progress dialog to provide feedback while downloading definition updates
  • Definition updated dialog showing updated definitions with a link to the updates for those interested in what was updated on each definition update
Technology Changes

  • Quick scan is now faster
  • Kernel Direct File and Registry access allows sidestepping the entire Windows file and registry subsystems to uncover rootkits and user land hooking applications. We have been finding lots of these being installed from crack/warez sites.
  • Alternate Data Stream (ADS) scanning for NTFS formatted drives
  • ZoneMap Domain scanning can detect trusted bad domains, and restricted good domains. Many spyware applications block access to anti-virus and anti-spyware sites to prevent users from getting applications to remove the infections.
  • Memory based infection scanning has been improved to be able to detect products that are packed/compressed on disk but expose themselves in memory
  • Issues with large file scanning are resolved
  • Improved real-time protection for SUPERAntiSpyware Professional
